STORY

What began modestly 20 years ago in a spare room ultimately led to a pastoral space that could host a Neve 5088 console’s warmth and color. LA acoustic engineers Kaufman and Associates were enlisted for expert design, and our sonic adventures began. We did almost all of the work ourselves and we’re very proud of the results.

Fast forward to 2023, and the musical experiences in our studio logically led to the establishment of Voracious Records, fulfilling our vision of supporting artists in developing their sound and getting their music out to the world.

Jim Salvito was introduced to a wide range of musical genres at a young age by his older siblings, including his brother, who is a songwriter and guitarist. In kindergarten Jim played his sister’s copy of ‘The Yes Album’ for show-and-tell. At heart he’s a bass player who knows that the pocket is the essential foundation of groove.

Prior to The 805 Room and Voracious Records, Jim was the CEO of a professional services consulting firm where he was known as a visionary leader and innovator. His vast experience and expertise in managing and growing businesses and mentoring people are invaluable assets to The 805 Room and Voracious Records. As a producer, composer, and engineer he’s an indispensable part of the creative process at The 805 Room. His voracious thirst for knowledge keeps him constantly in tune with the latest gear, software, and engineering techniques, and his intuitive and tasteful engineering / production / mixing skills demonstrate his depth of knowledge. Jim still plays bass, writes, and sings.

Perry Norton has a diverse background spanning theater, music, and production. Her music career includes headlining CBGBs and countless NYC clubs. She went on to work as a TV and radio producer in NYC, but In 2004 she joined then-startup SONOS in Santa Barbara, where she worked in marketing to help launch their revolutionary music products. She also managed a voiceover and podcast editing business for over 20 years.

The pull to get back to music was ever-present, and she was fortunate enough to make that a reality after a chance meeting with Jim Salvito that turned into a lifelong partnership.

Perry's breadth of experience as both producer and performer, along with her ear for arrangement, makes her the other essential half of The 805 Room and Voracious Records. She’s a savvy Pro Tools editor, music director, and Melodyne expert with a light touch. She transparently enhances vocals to bring out the best in every artist. Perry also sings, writes and plays guitar.
